New Ulm, Texas
The orginal Old New Ulm Rd
Tin Lizzie's Cafe and Dessert Bar
New Ulm had its beginning as Duffs Settlement; named in honor of James C. Duff to whom the land was granted in 1841. Later, the name New Ulm was chosen in honor of Ulm, Germany, since many settlers were from that area.
A number of the current homes in town are the orginal structures dating back to the mid 1800s. Tensleon Ranch proudly includes an orginal one room School House built in 1895 and renovated in 2004. It now serves as the ranch office and library.
For good food around the area, if you are in the mood for some good old country food, the Texas Star Cafe is right down the road. Tin Lizzie's is a wonderful cafe located in the center of New Ulm. Please visit their sites located in our food and beverage section.
Less than a mile away from the Ranch is a precious store named Fragment where you can find antiques and hand crafted items for home, garden and giving. They are open Friday and Saturday from 10am-5pm. If you are in town during the week days and would like to make a trip by the shop, please call Diane Matula at 713-254-3381 on availability of shopping by during the week.
